About Smile Design Associates
Dr. Laura Mackey attended both Dartmouth College and Vassar College where she graduated in 1980. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and received her doctorate in 1984. Instead of going back to New York City, where she is from, she was accepted into a General Practice Residency Program at the York Hospital in York, PA. She settled in Downingtown and worked two days each week instructing dental students at the University of Pennsylvania. After working in a group practice for 10 years, Dr. Mackey branched out into her own practice in 1996.
Dr. Mackey has been a member of the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Chester/Delaware County Dental Association for over 25 years. She attends the annual meeting of the American Dental Association each year, as well as numerous education courses to keep current in techniques and materials.
You will be pleased to know that at Smile Design Associates, we follow all the latest developments in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, including the American Dental Association’s required sterilization techniques and infection control procedures.

Dr. Matthew Rudolph, D.M.D., M.S. is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans. He then continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, where he received his doctorate of medical dentistry in 1996. Dr. Rudolph served our country in the United States Navy as a general dentist and division officer on land and at sea. He served on the USS Kennedy and USS Frank Cable in Guam, where he received the Naval Commendation Medal. Following his tour at sea, Dr. Rudolph worked as a general dentist and division officer at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
Dr. Rudolph then went on to the University of Florida where he began his residency in Periodontics. After graduating from the program, Dr. Rudolph practiced as a periodontist and was the head of the department at a Naval Activity base in Tennessee. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontolgy and is currently practicing here in Exton and in Philadelphia.
